Well we thought we had 1 week left. I worked Wednesday day and then I was on call that night and we worked until 1130 that night. I had been having contractions all day but they didn't hurt too bad and they weren't very close so I figured I was having the "Braxton Hicks" contractions. As the night went on they started to hurt and get worse. I called Kyle telling him I was going to be working late and I was so upset about being at work that night and being 39 weeks pregnant that I told him we were doing whatever we needed to do to try and induce labor so I could have this baby tomorrow! During the last case I kept telling myself I was going to go down to OB and at least get checked because I was worried I was in labor or at least close to being. By the time we were done and able to go home I had decided I was just going to go home and shower and tell Kyle I might be in labor. The contractions didn't get any better but they weren't very close time wise either. So I went home and decided to just go to bed cuz I had been working and on my feet for 17 hours and I just wanted to sleep. So the next morning Kyle and I went to St. George so Kyle could get a shot in his back. The contractions had stopped over night but I was still worried. I got my bag packed for the hospital and when we came home from St. George we went to my doctors appointment at 2:15 to see how I was doing. I had been dilated to a 2 the week before. I was dilated to a 4 and my doctor asked me if I wanted him to break my water today or the next morning. I was so nervous that I almost told him no. I didn't want to be pregnant anymore and I really wanted to find out what we were having that I finally said yes to having my water broke. I walked over to OB and was in my bed by 2:30 and the doctor came over broke my water and they hooked me up to pitocin. The contractions came every 2 minutes and got worse as the time went by.

Me closing my eyes as the contractions came.

Kyle was nervous. He didn't like seeing me in pain.
I was trying to call family and friends to inform them that I was in labor and our baby was coming any time. I asked for an epidural and it went very smooth but I didn't feel any relief from the epidural. My friend Shawn who was the CRNA who put in the epidural kept trying to figure out why it wasn't working and kept putting drugs in it to help me out. The contractions were coming very fast and lasting longer and we decided to replace the epidural and they tried to get me to sit up and I felt the need to push! They laid me back in bed and the nurse checked and I was definitely ready to push. They called the doctor and told him to run or else he was going to miss it. He showed up in time to put gloves on and catch our baby BOY! I was in shock! I really didn't know what to think or to cry or what to do. He was perfect! I had been in hard labor for 29 minutes!
