Swimming at the Lake

Yes I am going to bore you with pictures of my dog. This weekend Kyle surprised me by taking me and Jaxsen to Sand Hollow. First thing it was HOT!!!! I think it got to the upper 90's if not in the 100's. Don't worry though I took the sunblock! So we got there Saturday and we immediately decided to get in the water. It felt so good. Jaxsen has only been to the lake 2 times before. The first time he loved the water and kinda figured out how to swim. The 2nd time we had Max and he pretty much tried to drown Jaxsen as much as possible. So this time Jaxsen was all by himself and loved it. He caught onto swimming so fast. The only reason I'm talking about this is cuz Jaxsen is not meant to swim. His paws aren't webbed and he pretty much is too fat to float. He eventually got to the point where he would just take off swimming. I was so proud.

Even Kyle got in the water. It took us both awhile before we would go too far into the water but eventually the cold water won over the hot sand. We went for a ride on the sand dunes on our razor. I have to admit the Razor was a very good purchase. I'm not a fan of fourwheelers but this is so much fun. I can just go along for the ride and not have to worry about driving. It was a pretty fun weekend. It wore all of us out but I thought this picture of Jaxsen pretty much explained how hard we all played this weekend.

Awesome Weekend

This weekend I got the chance to go with my sister and her two daughters to Manti and see the Manti Pageant. I have seen it once before but I couldn't remember much about it. I was so excited to have a girls weekend with my sister. I got a call from work saying that I didn't need to go into work on friday and so I left early friday to hang out with my nieces. I always plan to hang out with my sister but I never get a chance since my nieces can always talk me into playing dolls and whatever else they want to do. =) So the time finally came and we took off. Wow is pretty much all I can say about the pageant. I had so many emotions. I cried alot mostly. It was so powerful! I'm glad that Carrie invited me to go. I probably wouldn't ever go becuase I never think about it. THANK YOU CARRIE and GIRLS!!!!

Then on sunday Kyle wanted to take me for a ride up the mountain. There is a cabin up there that a sheep herder made himself to protect himself from bears. After a long and very bumpy road Kyle finally remembered where it was. This cabin is neat! Everything inside he made. I guess the guy who made it doesn't live in it anymore but whoever owns the land takes very good care of the cabin. Looking at the cabin was pretty fun but the thought of bears being around pretty much scared me and so we didn't spend too much time there.

LAS VEGAS

Well I have survived my week in Las Vegas and I'm sad to say I'm back in Cedar City. We had such a great time. I learned so much. I don't have any pictures to show because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas and pics can be used against ya! HA HA There really wasn't anything great to take a picture of anyways. But I will tell ya all about it. So we get there Tuesday and Leslee and I have a suture workshop to go to and we got to Vegas kinda late. We headed over to Ceasars Palace and could not find parking at all! We had to use valet which I have never used before and come to find out the President of the United States was speaking at the Ceasars Palace at the same time as our class. Man that would have been so cool but he made our lives miserable trying to find parking and then it took us 1hour 45 minutes to find our car becuase they shut down the valet place we used earlier!!! It was so frustrating. But it would have been so cool to have seen him. I guess I can always say I was pretty dang close to seeing him in person. Our suture class was cool. We learned some other ways of closing patients skin and we also learned how to tie knots. Now I know all you boy scouts or girl scouts out there think that was a waste of time but these knots were so hard! Then that night we went to the Broadway show Lion King. That was so awesome!! They did a great job and I would recommend everyone going. The rest of the week was filled with meetings and dinner. We hardly ate breakfast or lunch so that we could spend all our money on dinner. That is pretty much all we did. We went and saw some of the sights. We had to go see the water show at the Bellagio casino. It is my favorite. I could stand there all day but thank goodness we didn't because it was so HOT!!! We sat at the pool for an hour and I got burned. I even had sunblock on. If I ever have the chance to go again I would love to. I was blown away by how many scrub techs there are and by the age difference.

Memorial Day Weekend

We decided to go camping this warm Memorial day weekend by going to Gold Springs UT or NV (it just depends on which side of the state line you camp on). We got there friday night and were surprised by how many people were there camping. We have been out there many times and never seen anyone camping there before. We always camp in the same spot and were pretty worried by all the people we saw that our spot would be gone. Thankgoodness it wasn't!

I love going here in the spring time becuase of all the wild flowers. It reminds me of all the flowers back home we use to find on the mountain behind our house. I don't know the true name of these flowers but I grew up calling them Indian Paint Brushes. So this picture is for you mom becuase for some reason I remember you saying that you loved these flowers. I don't know if that is true or not.

These next 2 pictures are of the "Charlie Rose" mine. This guy and pretty much every other guy there built their homes right next to their mine. I don't think that I could handle living next to a huge deep whole in the ground and not be worried that I would fall down it in the middle of the night!

There is stuff like this all over the place. I have a hard time imagining people working so hard for a living and then all of a sudden picking up and moving somewhere else and leaving all their equiptment there.

This is a picture of the only house left standing in the town of Fay. You can see lots of remains of house foundations here.

This place is pretty neat though. I never thought of it as a ghost town until I tried to google it. I guess up until 5 years ago alot of the buildings were still standing. A mining company came in and pushed alot of the buildings over so no one would get hurt by going in them. There is atleast one mine there still open. The Nevada mining company is still working on what is called "The Snowflake" mine. You can't go very far into many of the mines. Most of them have collapsed in. We have wandered through a few of them. This trip we actually found 3 new mines that we had no idea were even there. We didn't have any flashlights so we didn't go in but next time we are for sure going in. We found one that still had alot of the tracks coming out of the mine for the railroad carts. I can't wait to explore the mines next time. I will for sure write all about it. I wish I had taken pictures of the openings. One of them is big enough that I can walk into it for quite a ways.

Tutu's Part 2

Well I have finally finished the tutu's for my nieces. I have to admit that the smaller ones turned out so much better but these are still cute. I just hope the older girls like them. I guess if they don't they can put them on teddy bears or up in the closet. These two new tutu's look much better in person. The camera just doesn't do them justice. The one for Holly is way cute. It has purple, green and yellow in it. You can't see all the colors in the picture. Rylee's was suppose to be my favorite because it is blue. But I should have just done the dark blue and white. I'm not sure if the light blue looks good in it or not. But it is the coolest cuz it has Duchesne colors!!!

Tutu's

This weekend I thought that I would try to make the no sew tutu's for my nieces. So I googled it on the internet to find out how to do it. The video seemed so easy I figured I could do it. Well it is easy but oh my gosh it takes forever to get the first one done. I almost didn't even attempt the second one, but as you can see I did. These two are for Savanah and Avery. I'm just glad I started with the little ones. I hope they like them too. If not I figured they can put them on a stuff animal. I almost put one of them on Jaxsen for him to model it for everyone to see but I figured I would get animal control called on me =) I'm hoping to get the other two made this week.

JAXSEN!!!

The day has finally come that Jaxsen is making his debut on the internet! I was going to earlier but thought no one wanted to see him. But friends at work couldn't believe that I didn't have him on my blog since he is pretty much all I talk about. So I've had him ever since he was 2 months old and only 5 pounds. He was so cute and tiny!!! Now he is 4 1/2 months old and I think about 25 pounds. He is now a chunk! I need to get better at taking him for a walk everyday. When I got him I had no clue as to what to call him. So I tried out a few names and Jaxsen was the only one he responded to. He has so much personality. Hopefully these pictures show ya how fun he is. He humors me by letting me dress him up and take his picture. I really think he likes it but as soon as he is out in public he hates to have clothes on. His favorite thing is to go for rides on the fourwheeler and razor. His first experience on a fourwheeler you couldn't get him off. Kyle took off and he chased him down until Kyle picked him up and took him. Now we drive the razor and if we leave it out in the backyard we usually catch him sleeping in it. He is so spoiled but he is my child and I will spoil him all I want!

Scrub Tech Convention

I'm so excited. In May me and two other people from my work are going to the Surgical Technologists National Conference in Las Vegas. 1 I'm excited to go to Vegas since Kyle doesn't let me go as much as I use to when I was single and 2 I get to rub shoulders with people in my profession and hopefully help me to be better at my job. There are so many cool speakers and presentations scheduled. I just can't wait. My good friends Leslee and Peg get to go with me. We have so many fun things planned. We are there for a week and one of the nights we are going to see the Broadway show The Lion King. Our tickets came in the mail yesterday. I've heard so many good things about this production. We also talked about going to see Phatom of the Opera. I don't know if we will or not. We might just wait to see if we can get cheap tickets there. Plus we will be doing tons of shopping. I swear Peg knows all the good places to go. She has such great fashion sense. I'm hoping to talk atleast one of them into going on the big shot at the Stratosphere. That is my favorite ride in Vegas. Well when it finally comes and goes I will for sure tell you all about our awesome time. Who knows maybe I will find me a better job!!!!!
