LAS VEGAS

Well I have survived my week in Las Vegas and I'm sad to say I'm back in Cedar City. We had such a great time. I learned so much. I don't have any pictures to show because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas and pics can be used against ya! HA HA There really wasn't anything great to take a picture of anyways. But I will tell ya all about it. So we get there Tuesday and Leslee and I have a suture workshop to go to and we got to Vegas kinda late. We headed over to Ceasars Palace and could not find parking at all! We had to use valet which I have never used before and come to find out the President of the United States was speaking at the Ceasars Palace at the same time as our class. Man that would have been so cool but he made our lives miserable trying to find parking and then it took us 1hour 45 minutes to find our car becuase they shut down the valet place we used earlier!!! It was so frustrating. But it would have been so cool to have seen him. I guess I can always say I was pretty dang close to seeing him in person. Our suture class was cool. We learned some other ways of closing patients skin and we also learned how to tie knots. Now I know all you boy scouts or girl scouts out there think that was a waste of time but these knots were so hard! Then that night we went to the Broadway show Lion King. That was so awesome!! They did a great job and I would recommend everyone going. The rest of the week was filled with meetings and dinner. We hardly ate breakfast or lunch so that we could spend all our money on dinner. That is pretty much all we did. We went and saw some of the sights. We had to go see the water show at the Bellagio casino. It is my favorite. I could stand there all day but thank goodness we didn't because it was so HOT!!! We sat at the pool for an hour and I got burned. I even had sunblock on. If I ever have the chance to go again I would love to. I was blown away by how many scrub techs there are and by the age difference.

Memorial Day Weekend

We decided to go camping this warm Memorial day weekend by going to Gold Springs UT or NV (it just depends on which side of the state line you camp on). We got there friday night and were surprised by how many people were there camping. We have been out there many times and never seen anyone camping there before. We always camp in the same spot and were pretty worried by all the people we saw that our spot would be gone. Thankgoodness it wasn't!

I love going here in the spring time becuase of all the wild flowers. It reminds me of all the flowers back home we use to find on the mountain behind our house. I don't know the true name of these flowers but I grew up calling them Indian Paint Brushes. So this picture is for you mom becuase for some reason I remember you saying that you loved these flowers. I don't know if that is true or not.

These next 2 pictures are of the "Charlie Rose" mine. This guy and pretty much every other guy there built their homes right next to their mine. I don't think that I could handle living next to a huge deep whole in the ground and not be worried that I would fall down it in the middle of the night!

There is stuff like this all over the place. I have a hard time imagining people working so hard for a living and then all of a sudden picking up and moving somewhere else and leaving all their equiptment there.

This is a picture of the only house left standing in the town of Fay. You can see lots of remains of house foundations here.

This place is pretty neat though. I never thought of it as a ghost town until I tried to google it. I guess up until 5 years ago alot of the buildings were still standing. A mining company came in and pushed alot of the buildings over so no one would get hurt by going in them. There is atleast one mine there still open. The Nevada mining company is still working on what is called "The Snowflake" mine. You can't go very far into many of the mines. Most of them have collapsed in. We have wandered through a few of them. This trip we actually found 3 new mines that we had no idea were even there. We didn't have any flashlights so we didn't go in but next time we are for sure going in. We found one that still had alot of the tracks coming out of the mine for the railroad carts. I can't wait to explore the mines next time. I will for sure write all about it. I wish I had taken pictures of the openings. One of them is big enough that I can walk into it for quite a ways.

Tutu's Part 2

Well I have finally finished the tutu's for my nieces. I have to admit that the smaller ones turned out so much better but these are still cute. I just hope the older girls like them. I guess if they don't they can put them on teddy bears or up in the closet. These two new tutu's look much better in person. The camera just doesn't do them justice. The one for Holly is way cute. It has purple, green and yellow in it. You can't see all the colors in the picture. Rylee's was suppose to be my favorite because it is blue. But I should have just done the dark blue and white. I'm not sure if the light blue looks good in it or not. But it is the coolest cuz it has Duchesne colors!!!

Tutu's

This weekend I thought that I would try to make the no sew tutu's for my nieces. So I googled it on the internet to find out how to do it. The video seemed so easy I figured I could do it. Well it is easy but oh my gosh it takes forever to get the first one done. I almost didn't even attempt the second one, but as you can see I did. These two are for Savanah and Avery. I'm just glad I started with the little ones. I hope they like them too. If not I figured they can put them on a stuff animal. I almost put one of them on Jaxsen for him to model it for everyone to see but I figured I would get animal control called on me =) I'm hoping to get the other two made this week.

JAXSEN!!!

The day has finally come that Jaxsen is making his debut on the internet! I was going to earlier but thought no one wanted to see him. But friends at work couldn't believe that I didn't have him on my blog since he is pretty much all I talk about. So I've had him ever since he was 2 months old and only 5 pounds. He was so cute and tiny!!! Now he is 4 1/2 months old and I think about 25 pounds. He is now a chunk! I need to get better at taking him for a walk everyday. When I got him I had no clue as to what to call him. So I tried out a few names and Jaxsen was the only one he responded to. He has so much personality. Hopefully these pictures show ya how fun he is. He humors me by letting me dress him up and take his picture. I really think he likes it but as soon as he is out in public he hates to have clothes on. His favorite thing is to go for rides on the fourwheeler and razor. His first experience on a fourwheeler you couldn't get him off. Kyle took off and he chased him down until Kyle picked him up and took him. Now we drive the razor and if we leave it out in the backyard we usually catch him sleeping in it. He is so spoiled but he is my child and I will spoil him all I want!

Scrub Tech Convention

I'm so excited. In May me and two other people from my work are going to the Surgical Technologists National Conference in Las Vegas. 1 I'm excited to go to Vegas since Kyle doesn't let me go as much as I use to when I was single and 2 I get to rub shoulders with people in my profession and hopefully help me to be better at my job. There are so many cool speakers and presentations scheduled. I just can't wait. My good friends Leslee and Peg get to go with me. We have so many fun things planned. We are there for a week and one of the nights we are going to see the Broadway show The Lion King. Our tickets came in the mail yesterday. I've heard so many good things about this production. We also talked about going to see Phatom of the Opera. I don't know if we will or not. We might just wait to see if we can get cheap tickets there. Plus we will be doing tons of shopping. I swear Peg knows all the good places to go. She has such great fashion sense. I'm hoping to talk atleast one of them into going on the big shot at the Stratosphere. That is my favorite ride in Vegas. Well when it finally comes and goes I will for sure tell you all about our awesome time. Who knows maybe I will find me a better job!!!!!

Elmers Glue

Okay so I'm going to give you a long history to why I'm excited for elmers glue right now. So I'm a huge reality tv junkie! I love any show that is about real people. If you knew all the shows I watched you probably laugh. But today it has paid off. So I watched this past season's The Bachelor. Ya I was bummed that he didn't pick Melissa but oh well. That is life. So I heard that she was going to be on Ellen's show. So I recorded it cuz ya know I actually had to work that day. =)(it's been very slow at work and I have had plenty of time to catch up on my reality shows and find new ones. Let me tell ya Kyle just loves it! HA HA no he doesn't). Anyways, after Melissa said what she wanted to say they had a beauty expert on and she had some beauty secrets. So of course I watched it and she mentioned the biore strips that take blackheads off your nose and chin. She said instead of wasting your money on that product you should buy some elmers glue. She said all you need to do it put a thin layer on your nose and chin and let it dry and then peel it off. Your blackheads will peel off with the glue. So I thought that sounds cool. So today I went and bought some glue and tried it. OH MY GOSH!!! It really worked. I didn't think it would. With the strips it pulls them out but you have to do it acouple times and for the price you paid you don't want to waste them. Glue is cheap and it doesn't even hurt peeling it off. So go and try it. I promise you will be amazed!!!

NICKELBACK!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited!! I just bought Kyle and I tickets to see Nickelback! I'm a huge fan of them. We saw them in Vegas 3 years ago and they were amazing! They had Hinder, Hoobastank, and another band but I can't remember who. I know that is bad that I can't remember who else performed but I really only cared about Nickelback. Hinder was pretty good too. I'm excited so far Hinder will be touring with them again along with Saving Abel who I'm a big fan of now. Also Papa Roach. I don't know Papa Roach as well as I know the other bands but it will be fun no matter what. We are going to the concert for our 2nd wedding anniversary instead of going on another long road trip like last year I figured the concert would be better and cheaper. =) I will write all about it when it actually happens. It doesn't happen for another 5 1/2 months but that is how excited I am for it. I can't wait!!!!
